Vision

Looking inside Village Books, a local book shop, you can just make out Bill McKibben's book "Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future" on display. Bill was the keynote speaker at a Sustainable Connections business conference I attended this past Friday. It was awesome to spend the day among people who hold great hope for the future of local communities and economies, and who embrace the importance of preserving and protecting the earth's resources.

Youth Fair

Youth Fair is a 4-H related opportunity for youth to learn and practice various animal or crafting skills. This is when our boys practice "fitting and showing" in preparation for the week-long Northwest Washington Fair in August. Here's Jan with "Donut".
And Per ~ hard to see, but in the middle ~ who was showing "Ronaldinha". (Per's a major soccer fanatic, thus a female-twist on the name of his favorite Brazilian player, Ronaldinho.)

Luke, on the other hand, opted for the simple name "Merry".

Action

I spend a lot of time watching soccer games in the spring, with three boys on the pitch each Saturday. My action shots aren't turning out particularly well; this one of Luke is better than some.

Easter

It never fails: After a hectic Easter morning at home, I decide at the last minute to attempt an outdoor photo of my guys before we head out the door to church ~ only to be reminded that hurried holiday pictures will inevitably include at least one child whose eyes are closed, one who who insists on making funny faces...and so on. Ah, well. They looked nice in real life. And the photo still makes me smile.

Early April Snow

It's pretty unusual to have snow here in April. This morning flurry was short-lived, but served as a reminder that it's not yet time to prepare the vegetable garden.
