Memories

Kai's cake always looks so pretty with a dusting of powdered sugar and a few fall flowers. What I really love about this photo, though, is the cake plate. It was given to my mother when she was married nearly fifty years ago in Germany. It conjures up such good memories, and since we were at my parents' home it seemed fitting to use it.

Perhaps the blurriness of this photo is apropos, given how misty-eyed I was at the thought of my baby turning three. The years have slipped away so quickly...
